A group of 14 people have been arrested for having a wild private drug party, on the eve of Malaysia Day. Party-goers consisting of seven men and seven women were arrested during a surprise police raid at a house in Taman Perling, Johor Baru, at 2:30 am. Five people also tested positive for methamphetamine, police said.

The police have seized various alcoholic beverages and several types of drugs, including marijuana, ketamine and ecstasy. The house was especially booked by a private event organiser for one day. Police said that the organiser was fined RM2,000 and other were fined RM1,500 each for violating the standard operating procedures. All 14 have been remanded for four days, until further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, they could face jail for up to five years.
