4 Suspects Arrested For Latest Odour Pollution In Sungai Selangor

Kuala Lumpur: Police have arrested four suspects who have been involved in the latest odour pollution in Sungai Selangor, which has left up to 1 million water account holders in the Klang Valley and Selangor taps dry.

Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said four people were arrested between midnight and early this morning in Gombak, Damansara and Kelana Jaya.

Out of the four, three are local, while one is a woman and is a Bangladeshi national.

According to initial reports, the woman was a tenant at Jalan Velox 2 in Rawang, Selangor with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

The Bangladeshi woman worked for one of the men, who had stored chemical material at the rented premises. It is believed that the chemical waste flowed to the polluted area through manholes.

He said the department will apply for a remand order at the Selangor court. However, the polluted premises have been sealed off by the Selayang Municipal Council.
