‘Cartoon Plot’: Zahid Dismisses Nazri’s No Confidence Claim

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed the claims that 25 party members have lost faith in him. He said that such kind of stories are completely rumours and baseless. His statement comes a day after Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz had claimed that the majority of BN MPs have lost confidence in Zahild’s leadership.  Most of the members want that Hishammuddin Hussein should lead the coalition, Nazri said to Malaysia Kini. Umno president recently came under fire within his party for giving a so-called ‘14-day ultimatum’ to the Muhyiddin Yassin government in order to reconvene parliament.

Bagan Datuk MP Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has rubbished his fellow member Nazri‘s claim, who had said that 25 out of 42 BN lawmakers have lost confidence in the current Umno president.  Zahid described this as a cartoon plot—baseless and rumours.

According to Nazri, statutory declarations (SDs) had signed by most of the BN members, supporting Hishammuddin to take over the BN.

The rift between Hamidi and Nazri is not a new thing in Umno. Nazri often called for Hamidi to leave the post, especially since a signed letter of Hamidi went viral in which he supported PKR’s Anwar Ibrahim as PM last year in October.
