Kuala Lumpur: Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari today said that the government has detected four potential causes that caused Selangor water pollution. However, he added that those issues were immediately resolved.
One of the main causes that were detected yesterday was an oil spill in a river in Kampung Baru Balakong. According to reports, it did not come from any factory or workshop around the area.
He said that three days later a similar case was reported in Sungai Kundang, Rawang. It is believed that it was purposely done, however, they do not have any proof yet.
He urged the authorities in the area to be very attentive, as it could affect millions of residents. He added that they have increased the number of officers and personnel to monitor the basins.
It was reported that the affected area had stagnant water, so a third party must have dumped the oil.
