Anwar Ibrahim Reveals Threats Over Israel Criticism: Vows Unwavering Support for Palestine

In a bold revelation, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim disclosed that he has faced threats from Western powers due to his outspoken criticism of the Israeli government in the aftermath of the Gaza conflict. Addressing a crowd gathered at the Axiata Arena in a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, Anwar asserted his unwavering commitment to their cause. Present alongside Anwar at the rally were Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, as well as Deputy Finance Ministers Ahmad Maslan and Steven Sim, underlining the government’s support for his stance.

Anwar did not mince words as he denounced Western governments for their support of Israel, despite the reported atrocities committed by the Israeli government, including the bombing of hospitals and the destruction of schools, which he described as “the height of barbarism.”

Anwar had previously criticized Western governments for their perceived double standards in the conflict when they inquired if Malaysia would condemn Hamas, as Israel waged war on the group following a surprise attack on multiple locations on October 7.

The toll on human lives in Gaza has been staggering, with the death count surpassing 5,000, nearly half of whom are children, and over 15,000 injured due to the constant bombardment by Israel.

During his recent visits to several Middle Eastern nations, Anwar conveyed that their leaders hold great respect for Malaysia. He emphasized that this respect reflects the hope that Malaysia would play a more significant role in addressing the conflict, framing it not just as an Arab issue but as an Islamic and humanitarian concern.

Despite their best efforts, Anwar acknowledged that finding a solution to this crisis would be no easy task, and conditions could deteriorate further. Malaysia and other nations are grappling with the complexities of the situation and the pressing need for a resolution.
