Anwar Says He Never Presented MPs’ List To Agong

Kuala Lumpur: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said not to put words into his mouth as he never said he had presented the names of the MPs who would support him in his bid to form a new government.

He said he had only mentioned presenting letters and documents during his audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong. He added that he had only stated the number of MPs from parties.

Port Dickson MP further added that this in front of Bukit Aman, where he was called by police over creating havoc in public over his claims to form a new government.

He claimed that 38 PKR MPs are backing him, although he has not listed down their names.

Earlier on Tuesday, Anwar had a royal audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara. After which, in a press conference, he claimed to have the support of 120 MPs. Istana Negara later denied receiving any list of MPs supporting him.

He described police interrogation as malicious and political harassment, stating that they had been instructed to do so as it was none of their business to know the names of the MPs.
