Budget 2021 Will Spend More To Restart Economy: Finance Minister

Kuala Lumpur: Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the government is spending more money in Budget 2021 compared to Budget 2020. Adding that this Budget will focus on creating jobs and restarting the economy.

He did not reveal the numbers but said that the amount of allocation is bigger than Budget 2020.

He stated that the government is planning to spend more on development projects while saving on operation costs.

In an interview, when asked about development projects, he said it was an expansionary Budget.

“Let’s say to build a hospital or any construction project, it is very good as it creates job opportunities and big economic spillovers. We need to spend more but reduce wastage,” he said.

He further added that the government is providing as much aid as it can with four stimulus packages, which were earlier announced. However, he said people need to understand that the government’s main target is to help the needy.
