Budget Is ‘Ordinary’ For ‘Extraordinary’ Times: Lim Guan Eng

Kuala Lumpur: Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng criticised the 2021 Budget, calling it an ‘ordinary’ budget during ‘extraordinary’ times.

DAP secretary-general claims that the government is failing with its RM322.5 billion budget, as the country needs an “extraordinary budget in an extraordinary climate.”

In an interview, he said it is very necessary to put money in the pockets to survive the poor people of the country. He also said that the government must come out to help unemployed people and ensure that their children did not go hungry.

“This is a crisis of dire proportions, of unimaginable magnitude, we don’t know what will happen next year,” he further said.

On BFM Radio’s Breakfast Grille programme today, he stated that the budget is only looking at those people in the formal sector. He asks the government to provide a helping hand to those in the informal sector.

He also pointed out that the government has projected an unrealistic economic growth between 6.5% and 7.5%.
