Cop To Be Deployed In Each School To Curb Criminal Activities

At least one School Liaison Officer (PPS) in each school will be deployed by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in order to prevent drug abuse and criminal activities in schools in Perlis. The authorities said that the police officer would visit once or twice a month to gather information and help the school solve problems and misconduct of students at school. The move aims to ensure schools are free from criminal activities.

Speaking with the news agency Bernama, head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) Idris Mohamed said that at least one police officer is stationed as PPS in every 116 secondary schools, primary schools and tahfiz institutions in the state.

Idris said in addition to going down to the field to give talks, PPS also had the role of getting information from the school and the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) to ensure that the school was free from criminal elements.

“If there is a problem, we will not continue to lodge a police report but instead hold discussions for action by the school or PDRM if necessary.
