Kuala Lumpur: Perak DAP assemblyman Leow Thye Yih today said that he would not support a UMNO candidate under any circumstances for the post of Menteri Besar. Pokok Assan assemblyman pointed out UMNO’s past two events, which had violated the people’s mandate. Adding that both the events remind him to never support any candidate from UMNO.
He stated that he decided to join the party in 2009 when the UMNO-led Barisan Nasional government was in power. But he considers the time as dark days which he would never forget.
He reminded that UMNO had overtaken the federal government from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and also other state governments before, going against the people’s mandate.
Leow called on his party comrades to support his stand and reject any candidate from UMNO for the Menteri Besar post.
However, UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s comment contradicted his point. Earlier in the morning, Zahid had said that he had contacted all the parties to form a new coalition and Perak DAP was ready to work for the interest of people.
