Kuala Lumpur: Umno Supreme Council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said that it is not surprising that his party was supporting opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
He stated that his party is dissatisfied with Perikatan Nasional-led (PN) government as it has not served the people properly. Adding that it has affected UMNO’s ability to serve Malays.
Tajuddin added that other leaders and parties could also back Anwar if they feel that Anwar can fulfil their expectations.
He said PN government needs to be more attentive if UMNO feels they have fewer options. He further added that if this keeps coming up, others will benefit from this.
Citing Anwar’s example, he noted that now if he can stand up to people’s wants, the party will willingly support him.
Earlier, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan’s said the party is rethinking to retract its support for PN.
