Kuala Lumpur: A Form Six student has been charged in connection with the murder of her friend. Siti Nur Athirah Azmi was charged before the Magistrate’s Court on 16 November.
However, she did not enter a plea in court, after the charge was read out before magistrate Engku Nurul Ain Engku Muda.
The 19-year-old was spotted in the purple police lock-up uniform and a calm look. She arrived in the court at 9.36 am, where she waved to her family who waved back at her and called out her name in the court compound.
She is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, for allegedly murdering her friend between 8.30 am and 9.30 am on Nov 1, 2020, in a house in Kampung Lubuk Batu, Jalan Bukit Tadok, Telemong, in Hulu Terengganu.
If convicted, she will face the death sentence. The court has scheduled 10 January for next mention.
She was represented by lawyer Mazlan Md Zain, from the National Legal Aid Foundation, while the prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Amer Abu Bakar Abdullah.

Siti Nur Athirah Azmi was arrested on 2 November in connection with the murder of Siti Nur Surya Ismail. Police nabbed the suspect a day after Ismail found dead at her house, who suffered slash wounds and had her left hand severed.
Police said recovered some belongings of Ismail from Athirah’s house during the investigation. The victim was attacked by a vegetable knife during the fight, police revealed in a statment.
