Former Bachok MP, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Aziz, announced his decision to step back from politics and take a break for an unspecified period. The move came after Nik Abduh was not fielded as a candidate in the state election in Kelantan.
Being the son of the late PAS spiritual adviser, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, his absence from the candidacy led to a viral video where Nik Aziz’s younger brother, Nik Din Nik Mat, accused PAS vice-president, Mohd Amar Abdullah, of allegedly being the “mastermind” behind the decision.
However, Amar denied the allegations and deemed Nik Din’s remarks as slander against him. Nik Abduh’s Facebook post stated, “I will be fasting and taking a break from the country’s politics for a while. This is a difficult time for myself and my mother. May PAS grow in strength with the best leadership to lead the future of the country.”
He further expressed his hope for PAS to flourish under strong leadership for the country’s future. The incident has caused tensions within the party, with conflicting statements being made regarding the reasons behind Nik Abduh’s absence from the candidacy. For now, Nik Abduh seeks a respite from politics as he navigates this challenging period.
