Former MAS CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya Survives Melawati Helicopter Crash

Kuala Lumpur: Former Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS) group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya is one of the two individuals, who survived the mid-air collision that led to a helicopter crash in Taman Melawati.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Esha said that Jauhari and Tan Chai Eian were the two survivors of today’s accident, while Heli Club’s captain and chief flying instructor, Commander (Rtd) Mohamed Sabri Baharom and Mohamad Ifwan Rawi were killed in the crash.

It was reported earlier that two helicopters were crashed after collided in Taman Melawati in Kuala Lumpur, behind a Tamil school.

The Fire and Rescue Department and police personnel stated that there were four victims of the crash- three men and a woman. In the accident two of the four people on board were killed.

Mohamad Farouk said the two helicopters were from the same company, the Heli Cabri 9M-HCB and the Heli Cabri 9M-HCA.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
