Kuala Lumpur: French Muslim groups have expressed indignation at Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s controversial remark on France, who called “Muslims have a right to be angry and kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past.”
Referring to Mahathir Mohamad’s statement, France’s Muslim groups said it calls for murder launched by foreign leaders.
The 95-year-old former Malaysian PM has been widely criticised across the world for his comment on France and President Emmanuel Macron shortly after the Nice terror attack.
Several Muslim leaders and leaders of the Great Mosques of Paris, Lyon and the French Mediterranean island of Reunion condemned recent Kinfe attack in Nice city and lynching of a teacher in the name of Islam.
The group said France gives a lot of space to freedom of expression” and gives citizens the right “to believe or not believe.”
Showing solidarity with France, Muslim leaders also stated that all is happening in the name of Islam is just for the sake of “political gain”.
