Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the government will endeavour to ensure that the water supply in the nation is sustainable and respected.
He said the government is committed to achieving 99 % water supply coverage, 80% connected sewerage services and a national target of 25% in reducing non-revenue water by 2030.
During the opening of International Greentech and Eco-products Exhibition and Conference 2020, he stated that climate change will, however, impact the water quality, quantity, availability and also the implementation of water infrastructure projects.
He added that the government is considering alternatives like rainwater harvesting, underground abstraction. He said that the Environment and Water Ministry (KASA) is preparing an Environmental Sustainability Roadmap, which will provide a clear vision to help meet water demands.
