Harimau Menangis Is Still Under Scrutiny: MyIPO

Kuala Lumpur: Director-General of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO) Datuk Mohd Roslan Mahayudin said that the trademark application for the ‘Harimau Menangis’ brand by Noor Khan Enterprise Company is still under scrutiny. He said that the brand applied for by the owner of the company, Noor Kartini Noor Mohamed has not been approved by MyIPO and is his exclusive right.

Mohd Roslan informed that Noor Kartini’s application to register the brand was accepted by MyIPO in November last year and its approval depends on the results of the inspection and consideration of the agency.

“In this regard, Noor Kartini was asked not to precede the decision of MyIPO by claiming that the brand ‘Harimau Menangis’ has been registered as a trademark and is his exclusive right.

MyIPO will process his application as usual, that is, any decision made is based on existing legal provisions, “he said in a statement.

Since yesterday, the entrepreneur has been on social media claiming that the ‘Harimau Menangis’ brand for his product has been registered and he has exclusive rights to the trademark of the name.
