Why HSBC Is Closing Its Branches In Malaysia?

HCBC, one of the largest private banks in Malaysia, has confirmed today that it will shut down at least 13 branches across the country. The company said that move comes in line with expanding its digital banking presence and reducing the physical branch footprint. It said that the Bank will start closing its branches from 31 December 2021.

HSBC Bank in Malaysia has announced on Tuesday that company is going to shut down its 13 branches by 31st of December, citing the expansion of digital banking service across the country. The company said that bank is committed to serve its customers and will continue to work in Malaysia.

“We are just expanding our digital banking presence and reducing our branch footprint, in line with the evolving financial and banking services,” HSBC said in its statement.

The bank also said the customers of HSBC can continue with other banking services like internet banking, ATMs, and transactions at the nearest branches.
