Kuala Lumpur: The Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador has apologised to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng over fixing the date on Christmas eve for recording his statement. Lim, who is facing corruption charges over the Penang undersea tunnel project, claimed that police will not record his statement tomorrow due to Christmas eve and will set a new date next year.  Â
Lim said in his statement that police have sent him a text message and apologised for his officer’s oversight in fixing the appointment date for recording the statement.
Earlier, Penang MP had alleged that the government resorted to political vendetta against him.
According to the report, the corruption trial against Lim will begin next year in June as the Court has decided to hear evidence from prosecution.
Lim, who is facing abuse of power accusations, involving four corruption charges during his tenure in Penang undersea tunnel project.
