Insulting Agong: Sungai Pelek Assemblyman Arrested Over His Facebook Post

Kuala Lumpur: Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew has been arrested over his facebook post on ongoing Thailand protests. According to reports, the post is ‘seditious’ towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said that Khiew is being charged under the sedition act and the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Referring to Thailand’s ongoing nationwide protest against its Royal and current ruling government, Liu allegedly posted a picture of the Thailand demonstration with the caption, “Now in Bangkok. They are saying no to the King,” which is considered to be seditious towards Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Liu was arrested by police when he turned up to report his statement at Petaling Jaya district police headquarter today.

Earlier, it was reported that police are investigating 4 social media accounts for allegedly posting statements that insulted Agong.
