Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has been appointed as the new deputy prime minister of Malaysia. Ismail Sabri’s charge as the defence minister has been handed over to Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein in a big reshuffle by PM Muhyiddin Yassin.
Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be the right hand of PM Muhyiddin Yassin in the PN government as a deputy PM, the PMO office said on Wednesday.
The PMO said in its statement that Ismail Sabri will closely work with PM Muhyiddin Yassin especially in the view of health and economic crisis that country has been facing since the pandemic hit the country.
Ismail Sabri’s appointment comes days after a high-level meeting among the Umno leaders amid the speculation of quitting the coalition government.
