The MPs are signing their statutory declarations already in support of Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob Sabri to be elevated to Prime Minister’s post, multiple news reports said on Monday. Senior politician, Hamzah Zainuddin, is being supported for the post of the deputy prime minister.
Hectic parlays are being held at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur hotel after PM Muhyiddin Yassin announced his decision to resign this morning.
This, however, doesn’t mean that Ismail Sabri is all set to get the desired numbers.
Ismail Sabri, who was made the Deputy Prime Minister last month, had ignored his party’s call to withdraw his support from Muhyiddin Yassin. Sabri, Khairy Jamaluddin and few other UMNO leaders had categorically denied quitting their positions.

Experts also believe that UMNO chief Ahmad Zahid Hamidi have ambitions to become the Prime Minister, and might not rally his support behind Sabri.
Earlier this morning, in the closed door meeting, Muhyiddin Yassin said his alliance doesn’t have the numbers to continue, and he has no option left but to quit.
Muhyiddin Yassin drastically falied in his attempt to lure opposition MPs to save his government, that is now beileved to be under minority, and is due to face a floor test on September 6.
The Prime Minister, on Friday, had given multiple attractive offers to the oppostion leaders —- like raising their salaries and giver leader of opposition a minister’s status — in lieu of support to his government.
