It’s Day No 1 At Work For New PM Ismail Sabri

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob reached Perdana Putra today at around 8.30 am for his first day at work as the new Prime Minister. The chief secretary to the government Mohd Zuki Ali greeted Ismail Sabri.

Also present were senior deputy secretary-general of the Prime Minister’s Department, Jamil Rakon; Public Service director-general Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman; Attorney-General Idrus Harun; Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani and Armed Forces chief General Affendi Buang.

The integrity officer in the Prime Minister’s Department Muhd Redza Ahmad held a Doa (prayer) before Ismail signed the welcome book. The new prime minister, 61, will his first official working visit to Kedah’s flood-affected Kuala Muda and Yan districts later today.

Ismail Sabri Yakoob took the oath of office on Saturday, ending months long political crisis that erupted after UMNO withdrew support for former PM Muhyiddin Yassin.

Sabri’s appointment gives Malaysia the third Prime Minister after fall of scam tainted Najib Razak government in the year 2019. However, the appointment marks UMNO’s return to power too.
