Jho Low Is Trying To Negotiate With Government For Immunity: IGP Confirms

Kuala Lumpur: Inspector general of police Abdul Hamid Bador confirmed that 1MDB fugitive Jho Low had tried to negotiate with the government in exchange of immunity against prosecution since 2018. He said learnt this when he was head of the police Special Branch.

This comes after Al Jazeera’s recent report about Low’s conversations in which he is seeking bargain for his freedom with the Malaysian government. The news agency had also publicly posted leaked audio recordings between May and November 2018 on its website.

IGP asked Jho Low to stop running and give his statement about the case. “If he thinks he is innocent, why is he still in hiding?” he asked.

He promised him safe passage if he wants to return to Malaysia to explain to AG. Adding that for now, the matter is steady, as the efficient law enforcement body with the most advanced technology can detect him.
