Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced RM78 million for flood-hit areas in Kedah on Monday. The announcement came soon after he paid his first visit to Kuala Muda, Titi Hayun, and Yan–the worst affected districts in Kedah. According to the report, the cash assistance will help to restore damaged infrastructure and affected families in Kedah. As of now, a total of six people have died since the flood-hit country’s northwest state Kedah.

Allocating the fund, PM Ismail Sabri said that it will help repair the rivers and irrigation channels in the Yan and Merbok.
He also promised that fund will also assist those farmers who lost their crops due to floods.
Expressing his deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the floods, PM Sabri also pledged to give RM5,000.
During his press conference, PM Sabri also ensured that his government will help in rebuilding the damaged houses of families.
Earlier, on Monday, Ismail Sabri appeared at Perdana Putra in a black suit and took the charge as the Prime Minister. He replaced Muhyiddin Yassin who had lost majority in the parliament.
