In the ongoing 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, the Malaysian women’s hockey team bounced back from their previous loss to India by delivering a resounding 8-1 victory against Singapore in their third Group A match at Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium.

The Malaysian Tigress, under the guidance of Coach Mohd Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim, took the lead early in the game when Wan Norfaiezah Md Saiuti converted a penalty corner in the ninth minute. Malaysia continued to dominate as Siti Nur Arfah Mohd Nor and Nuraini Abdul Rashid extended the lead to 3-0 with penalty corner goals in the 15th and 29th minutes, respectively.

Nurmaizatul Hanim Syafi added another goal for Malaysia in the 31st minute before Singapore managed to reduce the deficit with a field goal by Sardonna Ng Yu Xin. However, Malaysia remained relentless, with Nur Afiqah Syahzani Azhar scoring a field goal in the 37th minute and Khairunnisa A Mohd Sharduddin adding another from a penalty corner shot in the 48th minute.

The Malaysian team continued to dominate the field as Hanis Nadiah Onn scored twice in the 54th and 59th minutes, sealing an impressive 8-1 victory.
Coach Mohd Nasihin expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of this win as they prepare for their final group match against South Korea.
