Watch: Agong’s Critic Wong Yan Ke Arrested On Sedition Charges

Kuala Lumpur: UM Association of New Youth (UMANY) former president Wong Yan Ke was arrested on Saturday afternoon on the charges of sedition.

According to reports, local police arrested him from his home and seized his laptops and gadgets during carrying out a house search in Petaling Jaya.

The reason behind his arrest is yet to be cleared.

Wong Yan Ke, who has been vocal against Malaysian King, believes that Yang di-Pertuan Agong has been interfering in state’s constitutional machinery and right to freedom of speech.

On November 2, he had posted a story, referring to Agong and said, “We defend the Federal Constitution of Malaysia as the supreme law and our parliamentary democracy, we say “NO” to “royal intervention”.

The former student also supported the ongoing Thailand protest against the ruling government and constitutional monarch system.

“Malaysia stands with Thailand”, he wrote in his recent Facebook post.
