In what many people found an “amusing” court hearing, a man who last year vandalised Istana Negeri palace, told the court that he was given a hidayah (guidance) from God to do so.
The man, Rio Fazzley Rahmat, 33, said that “it was god asked him to storm and take over as Sabah governor.”
He was facing charges for trespassing the palace and breaking five doors, earlier this year.
As per the claims made by the authorities, Rio caused damage estimated at RM18,400 during the incident.
However, Rio also showed the court a bag full of medicines and claimed that he was receiving treatment at a mental hospital.
However, the prosecution presented a medical report that said that Rio was fit for a court trial.
