Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad believes that Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry Mohamed Azmin Ali and former Kedah CM and his son Mukhriz Mahathir are the ideal candidates for the Prime Minister Post. He also said that there are a couple of more candidates who can handle the country as the PM. Dr M, however, said that he is not in the PM’s race for the third time as his age does not allow him. Dr M, who is the longest-serving of PM of Malaysia, is 95-year old.

The Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that there are several candidates who can become the next prime minister of the country, but revealed only two names of his choice—his son Mukhriz Mahathir and industry minister Azmin.
“There are three to four candidates and there could be more. Many see me as friendly to Azmin, he is one of the candidates. I also think there are Prime Ministerial candidates who do not come from prominent political background,” Dr M said while speaking with Sinar Harian.
He also said that his son Mukhriz is also a fit candidate for PM’s post but he has to work hard.
The Langkawi lawmaker further said that Indians and Chinese voters can play a significant role during the election. According to Dr M, both communities are the kingmakers in their majority areas.
He said that Malays are fighting among themselves and that’s why Chinese and Indians will decide who will run this country.
