High Court Judge Liza Chan Sow Keng today recused herself from the trial against former Prime Minister Najib Razak in SRC International’s RM4 billion lawsuit. Liza Chan Sow Keng said that she is a former lawyer and knew the ex-Prime Minister. She said that she is recusing herself in the case as it may give birth to future doubts and suspicions.

Liza Chan Sow Keng took the decision to recuse herself from the case when Najib’s trial came up for online management today. Liza Chan Sow Keng had been an eminent lawyer and was made a judicial commissioner in July 2020. Now, a new date for the hearing would be fixed before another judge.
The SRC International, a government-owned company, filed a case against Najib and former directors Suboh Md Yassin, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, Mohammed Azhar Osman Khairuddin, Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, Ismee Ismail and Che Abdullah, Rashidi Che Omar. Najib and the former directors are accused of breach of trust on SRC International funds.
