Six-time Member of Parliament and UMNO’s one of the most prominent leaders Nazri Aziz has announced the retirement from politics. Speaking with local media, Nazri said that he is quitting politics and won’t content GE-15 (General Elections) that will be held next year in 2023. He said he has enjoyed a lot in his political career but now this is the right time to say goodbye to politics. Nazri said that quitting politics was his personal choice. Nazri joined politics as the Umno Youth executive committee member at the age of 24.

Nazri said that his job is done as leaders like Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Hishammuddin Hussein got their positions to lead the country. Padang Rengas MP Nazri, who played a major role in making Ismail Sabri the new Prime Minister of the country, said that he is happy now and UMNO is on right track.
“My hard work paid off,” he said while speaking with the online news portal The Vibe.
He categorically said that he won’t join politics again even after his party colleagues and friends persuade him to join for the sake of people.
He told the online news portal FMT that he wanted to quit politics since two general elections ago, but UMNO leadership and people of his constituency wanted him to stay in politics.
Nazri, who served as the Umno Supreme Council member from 1990 to 2018, was one of the main party members in UMNO to topple the Muhyiddin Yassin government. He was the key person in UMNO to mobilise against the Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said that his job as a politician will be end once his term as MP expires.
