Kuala Lumpur: Padang Rengas MP Nazri Aziz said UMNO party members could not be held responsible for voting against Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, as his ousting was obvious considering this was what voters wanted in the 14th general election.
He said his party’s assemblymen acted in people’s best interest. He pointed out that in GE14 UMNO got most of the seats, maybe because that was what voters wanted.
He added that the party’s had issues, however, the water went over the nose when Umno assemblyman was appointed as Faizal’s political secretary without consulting the state leadership.
Earlier, Zahir Abdul Kalid announced that out of the 59 assemblypersons, 10 voted for the motion, 48 voted against, and one abstained.
The motion was submitted by UMNO Pengkalan Baru assemblyman Aznel Ibrahim, who was appointed as MB’s political secretary last month.
