Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that tourists who are going to Langkawi island by flight do not need a police permit. In a tweet, he said those travelling from other transport services from other states require a letter from the police. Langkawi island was chosen as the first destination to allow visitors under a tourism bubble programme.

Earlier, Tourism, Arts and Cultural Minister Nancy Shukri announced that Langkawi island is all set to welcome domestic tourists from all states except those placed under the enhanced movement control order from 16th September.
All visitors must comply with the Standard operating procedures and those above 18, must be fully vaccinated.
Visitors must provide travel proof such as flight tickets, ferry tickets and hotel receipts. All tourists travelling by road must provide a police permit for the purpose of interstate travel and roadblocks.
