A total of 463 areas in Klang Valley will experience unscheduled water cuts due to odour pollution detected in one of its water pumps stations, the authorities said on Tuesday.
Air Selangor revealed that odour pollution has led to the temporary shutdown of the Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (LRA Sg Semenyih).
Air Selangor corporate communications head Elina Baseri said odour pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station at 11.10 am on Tuesday.

They said five areas have been affected, namely Petaling 172 areas), Hulu Langat (54 areas), Sepang (194 areas), Putrajaya (23 areas), and Kuala Langat (20 areas).
A total of 463 areas will experience unscheduled water supply disruption.
The source of water pollution is still under investigation. Air Selangor and Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) are working on it. The affected areas are available on its official website, www.airselangor.com.
Elina Baseri further said that the department understands consumers’ need for clean water and thus is making all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption.
The authorities said that an emergency helpline number has also been activated to provide water in the affected areas.
