Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) Assemblyman Muhammad Khalil today courted controversy when he congratulated the Taliban over the recent victory in Afghanistan.
Muhammad Khalik issued a statement congratulating the Taliban, saying that their victory is the result of the efforts of Afghan people who wanted to free their homeland.
He even wished that the stakeholders would work hand-in-hand to maintain peace and for the growth of the country. However, his statement offended many users, some even demanded to make a police report against him for supporting an extremist organisation.
Twitter and Facebook, taking note of the comments, deleted the leader’s post.
The former International Affairs and External Relations minister also said the new Islamic law would save Afghanistan from the inhumane grip of occupation.
