Kuala Lumpur: The flash flood situation in Perak is reported to subside with a descending number of evacuees in relief centres. The number has fallen to 199 people from around 730 in temporary evacuation centres (PPS) so far. A state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat spokesman said four relief centres have been closed, out of which three are in the Larut, Matang dan Selama (LMS) district.
In a statement, he revealed that as the situation was under control and safe, 522 evacuees from the Masjid Toh Paduka, Ijok; Dewan Semak Bakti, Felda Ijok and the community hall in Kampung Sungai Ara, Batu Kurau centres were permitted to return home.
Meanwhile, two temporary evacuation centres are still operating. One in Sekolah Kebangsaan Parit Haji Aman in Bagan Serai, Kerian, with 152 people and another in Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat Ngah Ibrahim, Matang in the LMS district sheltering 46 individuals.
