Police has arrested 20 people for raising anti-government banners in Johor’s Batu Pahat. All arrested are youths between the age 16-28. They had raised banners with the message “kerajaan gagal” (government has failed) at around 2 am on Thursday. Those arrested are being investigated under multiple charges like the Prevention and Control of Infections Diseases and Explosives Act.

The police today arrested 20 people for allegedly putting up posters criticising the government in Johor’s Batu Pahat. Those arrested were aged between 16-28. The group, that included around 40 people, allegedly lit up flares and raised banners with the words “kerajaan gagal” (government has failed). Those arrested have been sent to a remand of four days.
Those arrested have being investigated under the Section 144, Section 269 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 8 of the Explosives Act, Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infections Diseases Ordinance 2021 (Act 342) and Section 48 of the Road Transport Act.
The incident occurred at 2 am yesterday, the group also took pictures and posted videos of their demonstration on social media.
