The police today arrested 20 people for allegedly putting up posters criticising the government in Johor’s Batu Pahat. Those arrested were aged between 16-28. The group, that included around 40 people, allegedly lit up flares and raised banners with the words “kerajaan gagal” (government has failed). Those arrested have been sent to a remand of four days.
Those arrested have being investigated under the Section 144, Section 269 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 8 of the Explosives Act, Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infections Diseases Ordinance 2021 (Act 342) and Section 48 of the Road Transport Act.
The incident occurred at 2 am yesterday, the group also took pictures and posted videos of their demonstration on social media.
