Kuala Lumpur: Police has busted a syndicate involved in prostitution, fraud and cryptocurrency transactions for the Chinese market and seized RM2.5 million in Cheras.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Hazir Mohamed said RM2.5 million was stuffed into several suitcases at a luxury residence in Jalan Desa Bukit Tiara.
Police even seized synthetic drugs, laptops and headphones. Six Chinese nationals and two locals, between 22 and 48 were nabbed for further investigation.
Hazir said the raid came after a previous raid by a team from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation at a condominium in Kajang, Selangor.
According to initial reports, it is believed that the syndicate was involved in illegal activities for the market in China online.
