Kuala Lumpur: Police are tracking down a Proton Wira driver, suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run, which caused the death of a 58-year-old man in Jalan Matang-Malihah last night.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim, who was pronounced dead on the spot by medical personnel, has been identified as Joseph Aw.
It is believed that the suspect was trying to overtake the car when he suddenly drifted back into his lane and collided with the motorcycle after clipping the front right fender of the car that he overtook. While, all three vehicles involved in the accident were heading towards Malihah from Matang.
However, the driver of the car and the passenger did not get physically injured in the accident.
The victim’s body was sent to Sarawak General Hospital’s morgue for further process. While the police are investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
