Kuala Lumpur: Police have arrested 18 individuals suspected who were involved in a shootout at the Malaysia-Thailand border that killed a member of General Operations Force (GOF) corporal on Tuesday. The 18 smugglers are remanded to facilitate the investigation, while it is believed that they smuggled Ketem leaves and cough medicines from Thailand in exchange of syabu, yaba pills and heroin with Malaysia.

They involve three Thais, who have been remanded for seven days until 1 December and 15 Malaysians who have been remanded for four days until Saturday. All suspects aged between 19 and 37.
