Kuala Lumpur: Police arrested 482 individuals for various offences under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday, mostly at entertainment centres.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 438 people were issued compounds while 40 were remanded.

The violations include not maintaining physical distancing, not wearing face masks, taking part in activities that made physical distancing difficult, breaking quarantine rules and operating businesses beyond the specified time, and failure to record the particulars of guests.

Authorities also detained 68 undocumented migrants and 10 smugglers yesterday as part of the ongoing Ops Benteng campaign.

They also confiscated three vehicles and one boat. There were 26 who were held for crossing district and state borders without permission.
