Questions Arise as PAS President Hadi Meets Dr. Mahathir After Illness Claim

Concerns have emerged regarding PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s health status after he was seen meeting former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad shortly after a police interview was postponed due to reported illness. PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin raised questions about whether the illness excuse was used to avoid investigation over Hadi’s speech, where he allegedly questioned the authority of the Pardons Board. Rakimin expressed hope that the police would not be misled by such tactics. Hadi’s meeting with Dr. Mahathir was attended by several menteris besar and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.

Rakimin expressed his concern, stating, “Hadi’s actions can be construed as trying to fool the authorities. I hope the police would not be duped by such tactics.”

Hadi’s meeting with Dr. Mahathir included the presence of several menteris besar, including Shukri Ramli (Perlis), Sanusi Nor (Kedah), Nassuruddin Daud (Kelantan), Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (Terengganu), and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.

Earlier in the day, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain confirmed that the police had decided to postpone taking a statement from Hadi after his aide requested a later date, citing Hadi’s illness. The interview was initially scheduled for around 4.30 pm.

This delay in the police interview follows reports that Hadi is under investigation under the Sedition Act for allegedly questioning the authority of the Pardons Board to pardon convicted criminals.
