Sabah To Request For Federal Allocation To Repair Collapsed Parking Area: Deputy CM

Kuala Lumpur: Sabah deputy chief minister Bung Moktar Radin said the state government will request a federal allocation to repair the Taman Kinabalu, Kundasang parking area, that collapsed this morning due to heavy rain in the area.

In a statement, he said the Sabah works minister will prepare an estimated budget that will be used to repair the road. Adding that it needs to be repaired soon as it connects Kota Kinabalu to Ranau and if not paid immediate attention will cause trouble in the future.

He further said that the parking area was mostly used by tourists, considering Taman Kinabalu is a major tourist attraction.

He revealed there were no injuries caused by the 100 meter’s landslide, which is believed was triggered by heavy rain.

Meanwhile, he clarified that the Paitan water treatment plant is still operating and only the staff quarters was damaged due to the landslide on the road between Paitan and Kinabungan.
