Kuala Lumpur: Chief executive officer Shahrul Azam Shaari announced that Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has introduced Zakat mode of payment to facilitate Muslim consumers.
He said that the decision was made considering that more and more people are using online payment systems these days as it is easy to use and transfer money.
The Muslim consumers can now make the payment in Zakat using the Shopee e-commerce platform from Friday. They can do it by selecting Deals, Top-ups & Bills” in the Shopee application and follow the simple steps provided.
He said they can do it by using ShopeePay mobile wallet, debit card, or online banking. While these payments will be used to help deserving recipients.
Meanwhile, a campaign will be initiated from 22 to 31 December to increase the Zakat collection. In addition, 200 Shopee coins will be given to the first 1,000 selected payers every day.
