Syed Saddiq’s Muda Files Case Against Delay In Registration, Hearing On June 12

Popular youth leader Syed Saddiq’s party Muda has gone to the High Court over delay in its registration as a political party. MUDA’s case will be heard on August 12. The application with the home ministry was filed in February. Earlier, the RoS had rejected MUDA’s application, without giving a specific reason.

The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), representing MUDA, have said that they have no objection against the suit. The Syed Saddiq led party is seeking to compel Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin to make a decision under Section 18 of the Societies Act.

MUDA’s application for registration was rejected by RoS earlier this year, however, no reasons were given. The party filed an appeal to the home minister again in February, but no response has been received yet.

The RoS has also rejected the request by Pejuang, led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for registration.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s party too has filed a similar case, a hearing is scheduled on June 23.
