Kuala Lampur: Amid uncertainties over the fate of ruling alliance, senior UMNO leader Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has demanded that his party should be given Deputy Prime Minister’s post and other important posts in the government as it is the biggest contributor to the government.
“We contributed the highest number of seats in Parliament so maybe the deputy prime minister post should be given to us,” Tajuddin said.
The Umno supreme council member also said that Umno had not been given the deserved recognition.
He further said that the others, including Azmin Ali and nine other MPs, who left PKR to join Perikatan, were either made ministers or deputy ministers.
The statement gains significance as it comes amid reports that some of UMNO MPs might extend support to the PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim in his bid to become the prime minister.
