Top Pakatan Harapan MPs have urged lawmakers to support PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim for the post of Prime Minister when the Parliament reconvenes next month. The MPs, in a joint statement, said that PM Muhyiddin Yassin led PN government has lost its majority in the parliament.
“For the sake of the future of the people and the nation, all parties who oppose Muhyiddin should come to the negotiating table to form a government that is inclusive, just and progressive where each party is treated fairly,” the coalition’s top three leaders said in a statement.

The MPs categorically said that they were against the holding of polls during pandemic times. Anwar, Umno chief Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and former Prime Minister Najib Razak have been making efforts to topple the Muhyiddin Yassin government. The statement, that comes ahead of PM Muhyiddin Yassin’ confidence vote, will raise tensions for PN coalition. Zahid and Najib have claimed that as many as 15 MPs have agreed to withdraw their support for PM Muhyiddin Yassin. If the claims turn out to be true, then Muhyiddin govenrnment would fall in minority, and the Prime Minister would be forced to quit.
