Kuala Lumpur: Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said that UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) will seek another alliance if current coalition under Perikatan Nasional fails to form government in Perak.
He said that UMNO and Barisan Nasional are putting efforts to retain the government led by the former Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who lost a motion of confidence that was tabled in the state assembly.
Zahid stated that after the recent statement by PAS Secretary-general and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, UMNO and BN is looking forward to forming a new government that would consider all political accounts for a more stable government.
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who has arrived for his special audience with Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah to discuss the now vacant state Menteri Besar post at Istana Kinta, said that he would put forward names of some candidates for Nazrin to choose.
Earlier, PAS announced that it would not participate to form a new Perak state government after Ahmad Faizal Azumu tendered his resignation as Perak Menteri Besar, a day after he lost a vote of confidence in the State Assembly sitting.
