UMNO’s Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been named as the chairman of the Perikatan Nasional Backbenchers Club. He replaced his colleague, Arau MP Shahidan Kassim, who is currently the Federal Territories Minister. PAS MP Khairuddin Aman Razali has been appointed as the deputy chairman and Parti Bersatu MP is the club’s secretary.

Earlier, he was removed from the post of chairman of infrastructure firm of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd following the LRT crash in May. The new appointment shed some light on him again in front of the public, after four months.
He was criticised for the way he handled questions from the press during conferences. Citizens took to social media to question his professionalism.
Meanwhile, a petition has also been launched against the UMNO man, demanding Tajuddin’s resignation from the new post. In the last 24 hours, the online petition collected some 140,000 signatures within 24 hours. It was launched on Change.org with the title, #LetakJawatanTajuddin (#ResignTajuddin).
