Umno’s 2-Week Ultimatum To PN Government

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said that not reopening parliament would be a sign of disrespecting King and Malay rulers. Urging Muhyiddin Yassin led the Perikatan Nasional government to reopen parliament as soon as possible, the Umno president said that the government has only 14 days to reopen parliament. The Muhyiddin government has faced increasing pressure from opposition leaders since the Agong advised to reconvene Dewan Rakyat.

A 14-day ultimatum was issued by Umno to the PN government in order to reopen parliament. Zahidi Hamidi said that government must follow the Agong advice as there is no reason in delaying resuming parliament.

His statement comes a day after PM Muhyiddin said that a special committee was form to look into the matter (on reconvening parliament). Muhyiddin had said that the committee would advice government and opposition parties whether parliament should run hybrid or physically.

Zahid Hamidi also said that if the government fails to take a decision on parliament then Umno will call a Supreme Council meeting to discuss its further step.
